Do you want to be an effective leader? Then this is my view.

Leadership is key in the various aspects of our lives...our personal, professional, and work life

Leadership is about bringing out the best in people…helping people to see their full potential…their true potential. Leadership is about helping people to see their worth…their value…let them see what they are made of. Its all about empowering, inspiring and motivating people. A leader is someone who sees more in others than they see in themselves…help them leave their comfort.

Before we can lead others, we must first learn to lead ourselves...be a self-leader...we must be able to inspire, motivate, and encourage ourselves and more important, become a role model...someone for others to follow...actions speak louder than words. Leaders are those people who are punctual, shows empathy, have a positive mind-set, have a vision and mission, and are great people.

•Communicate effectively---clear. An essential component…emotional intelligence..actively listen. Verbal (10%), non-verbal (90%). Listen to the spoken and more so, the unspoken word. Do we listen to respond or do we listen to understand.

•Leaders create an environment where people are heard, valued and understood.

•Empower your team or empower people….give people autonomy…let them be creative and imaginative…give them some decision-making power…let them do their thing.

An essential element of effective leadership is "building strong relationships with people...at home, work, on the street...demonstrate leadership to people on the street...brighten someone's day.

I would like to end with two things:

1) Always leave people better than you met them.

2) Treat people like people.
